4K Screen Recorder is designed around local recording and user-controlled capture. This page explains how the extension handles recording inputs and locally created video files.

Last updated: October 23, 2026

Local-first recording

Screen recordings are processed locally inside your Chrome browser. The extension does not upload your screen recording, selected webpage content, microphone audio or webcam video to an external recording server as part of the recording workflow.

Optional automatic transcription may send audio to your browser’s speech recognition service after confirmation. This is separate from local screen recording.

What the extension can access

When you start a recording, Chrome may ask you to choose a browser tab, application window or display. The extension records only the source you select. Microphone and webcam inputs are used only when you enable them and grant the required browser permission.

Local storage and exported files

Recordings may be stored temporarily in local browser or extension storage so that you can preview, edit, save or delete them. You control when a finished recording is exported to your device.

Permissions

Browser permissions are requested only when needed for supported recording features. Chrome controls permission prompts for screen sharing, microphone and camera access. You can review or revoke extension permissions in Chrome at any time.

Website data

This product page is hosted on ReelnReel. Standard server or security logs may be generated by the website host when you visit these pages. Those website logs are separate from your screen recordings and are not used to capture the content you record with the extension.

Changes to this policy

This policy may be updated when the extension, browser requirements or data-handling practices change. The latest published version on this page applies.
